Thermodynamic and transport properties

Pressure calculations use absolute pressure. Results retain full precision internally; displayed values are rounded. A dash means the property is unavailable for this state.

Method / Guide

  1. Select Saturated Water · By Pressure or Saturated Water · By Temperature for the liquid endpoint on the boiling line. Select Compressed / Subcooled Water to enter both pressure and temperature for liquid below saturation.
  2. Choose the input units and pressure basis. Gauge pressure is relative to the entered atmospheric pressure: P(abs) = P(gauge) + P(atmosphere). In temperature mode, pressure is calculated from saturation temperature.
  3. Read liquid-water enthalpy, specific volume, density, internal energy, entropy, isobaric heat capacity, dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity. Saturated results use x = 0; they are liquid endpoint properties, not vapor or a wet-steam mixture.
  4. Change each result's unit separately, or choose a unit preset. Export CSV and Print / Save PDF use the current results and selected units. Reset restores the default saturated pressure lookup.

Unit presets

SI uses kPa; SI(bar) uses bar; Imperial uses psi, °F and BTU/lb; MKS uses kgf/cm², °C and kcal/kg. Switching presets preserves the physical pressure and temperature. Atmospheric pressure is always entered in bar absolute.

Calculation range

Saturated liquid: 0.01°C ≤ T < 373.946°C and approximately 0.00611657 ≤ P < 220.64 bar absolute. Compressed liquid: 0°C ≤ T < 373.946°C, up to 1000 bar absolute. Below critical pressure, the temperature must be strictly below saturation; use a saturated mode on the boiling line. Vapor and supercritical-temperature states belong in Steam Properties.

Pure water only; no ice, glycol mixtures, dissolved salts or two-phase mixtures. A dash means a property is unavailable for that state. Transport correlations have their own validity ranges. Near-critical states can be sensitive to small changes in inputs.

Method and sources

Thermodynamic properties use IAPWS-IF97; dynamic viscosity and thermal conductivity use the library's IAPWS transport correlations. Energy conversion uses the thermochemical calorie (4.184 kJ/kcal) and International Table BTU.
